Merrick’s Farmhouse | Mornington Peninsula, VIC
Shou Sugi Ban architectural cladding was chosen to adorn the exterior facade of the building, showcasing its striking charred timber finish that beautifully contrasts with the concrete walls and lush green foliage surroundings. This burnt timber cladding seamlessly extends into the interior design of Merrick’s Farmhouse, creating a smooth transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The rich, charcoal-hued ceilings generate a sense of effortless elegance and refined simplicity. Merrick’s Farmhouse has received significant attention since its completion, gracing the front cover of ‘Houses Magazine’ Issue 151 in March 2023. This remarkable residence received recognition in the new residential category at the 2023 Victorian Architecture Awards and was honored as the ‘Australian House of the Year’ at the 2023 National Australian Architecture Institute Awards.
